Well, YLA Malaysia is brought to you by the consultants at McKinsey & Company Kuala Lumpur office. Our core team this year comprises of members of the office who are really excited to meet you and help make YLA 2015 an experience of a lifetime for you! And of course, throughout the program, you will come to meet more outstanding individuals that help make this program unique. E.g., other senior members of the McKinsey & Company Kuala Lumpur office who will be your faculty and help you through the workshops, not to mention amazing speakers and mentors that will guide and support you through this journey.

Nazrul

Nazrul

Nazrul did his Bachelor’s degree in Economics in Bristol and Masters in Economics at University College London. Prior to joining McKinsey, he interned at Bank Negara in the Economics Department where he helped carry out economic policy and research. Nazrul is very passionate about game theory and the implications that it has on macroeconomic models. He dreams of being a polyglot as he currently speaks Malay, English, Spanish and German with an aim of mastering Portuguese in the near future. In his spare time, Nazrul likes to play football, swim and read.  Having helped out in YLA in 2013 and 2014, he is looking forward to meeting the new batch in 2015 and helping the Malaysian youth of today achieve their true potential. 

Joseph

Joseph

Joseph studied Mechatronics Engineering in Monash University. Before joining McKinsey, he worked in MyTeksi, a local start-up, as its first employee, where he designed its initial software platform, and also helped to set up its operations in business development and sales. As with any Malaysian, Joseph is passionate about food, especially the kind from unassuming, mom-and-pop stalls that seem to harder and harder to find. He also believes himself to be a musician, as he plays the piano regularly for his church services. Joseph had a great time coaching teams in YLA 2013 and YLA 2014, and looks forward to YLA 2015 for another round of great learning and excitement.

Zarif

Zarif

Since his days as a student with a penchant for extra curricular activities, Zarif has always been a firm believer that leadership cannot be taught in the classroom. He is a former student of Victoria Institution and holds a degree in Mathematics from Imperial College. A certified chartered accountant, Zarif previously served as the financial controller of a Malaysian-owned highway concessionaire in India. He is an avid traveller and enjoys scuba diving in his free time.

Amresh

Amresh

Amresh received a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London.   He began his career as a Management Consultant in London at Oliver Wyman and later in Asia with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.  While working in consulting, Amresh was focused on the serving financial institutions in developing solutions for clients across Europe and Asia.  At McKinsey, Amresh has focused on serving clients in the public sector and aviation sectors facing both strategic and operational challenges.  Amresh passions in life are travelling, meeting new people and having great food. He is excited and definitely looking forward to meeting next batch of YLA graduates. 

Stuti

Stuti

Stuti graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India, in 2012. Before joining McKinsey, she worked in the Middle East for Schlumberger as a Field Engineer, where she led crews to perform offshore stimulation and fracking jobs – from the high seas of the Persian Gulf to the rolling dunes of the Arabian sands. After becoming a consultant, her mode of transport to work changed from boats to planes, and she swapped her steel-toed boots for heels. Whenever she can, Stuti likes to read, swim, meet friends, and eat junk. She also spends a disturbing amount of time pondering the course of humanity. 

Aren

Aren

Prior to joining McKinsey, Aren was involved in building a mind-controlled robot as an engineering undergrad at Imperial College as well as a startup co-founder for a spotify for eBooks. In his spare time, he has also pursued a postgraduate law qualification and hiked the 3 highest peaks of England, Scotland, and Wales. He enjoys traveling, startups, and cooking.

Joyce

Joyce

Prior to joining McKinsey, Joyce Tagal was the Alumni lead at Teach For Malaysia, the Malaysian partner of the Teach for All Global Network. Previously, she worked in the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) in the Prime Minister’s Office, focusing on education policy transformation. Joyce read Political Science at Yale University, and is always ready to engage in discussions about political philosophy and voter demographics. She grew up in Sarawak, where the air is cleaner and food tastes better. In her free time, Joyce enjoys travelling, reading and scuba diving and meeting new people. She’s excited to meet the YLA class of 2015!

Senthu

Senthu

Senthu received a double Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Yale University.   He began his career as an investment banker in New York at Lehman Brothers and later in London with Barclays Capital.  While working in finance, Senthu was focused on the equity capital markets developing financing solutions for clients across Europe and the US.  At McKinsey, Senthu has focused on serving clients in the health care, public sector and aviation sectors facing both strategic and operational challenges.  Senthu moved to Malaysia in the summer of 2014 after two years with the Firm in the US.  His passions in life are good food, good music and good friends – three things he has most certainly found in Malaysia.  Senthu returns to YLA in 2015 after enjoying a terrific experience coaching a team in 2014 and is more excited than ever at meeting the next batch of YLA graduates. 

Kok-Hin

Before joining McKinsey, Kok Hin spent 2 years teaching English in a Malaysian secondary school as a Teach For Malaysia Fellow, and currently chairs the Teach For Malaysia Alumni Board. He is also a co-founder of Project ID : Impianku, Destinasiku, a community project that helps secondary students achieve their ambitions through high-impact activities. He graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, reading and trekking.
